The international conference held with the co-organization of Baku State University has successfully concluded its work
From October 16 to 18, 2025, the 3rd International Scientific Conference on “Conservation of Eurasian Biodiversity: Current Challenges, Solutions, and Perspectives” was held at the Karakalpak Research Institute of Natural Sciences in Nukus, the capital of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was jointly organized by Andijan State University (Uzbekistan), Ege University (Turkey), and Baku State University (Azerbaijan). The main goal of the conference was to strengthen scientific cooperation among Eurasian countries — particularly Turkic states — to revive research traditions and to create conditions for developing new scientific approaches in biodiversity conservation. Baku State University was represented at the conference by Professor Rovshan Khalilov, Head of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Biology. Professor Khalilov delivered a speech at the plenary session, discussing the research conducted by Azerbaijani scientists in the field of biodiversity conservation, as well as the importance of scientific collaboration and experience exchange. He also chaired several sectional sessions and held meetings with representatives of scientific institutions from Uzbekistan, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, reaching agreements on establishing new areas of cooperation. Professor Gulnara Azizova, Head of the Department of Biological Chemistry at the Azerbaijan Medical University, also participated in the conference. Within the framework of the conference, extensive discussions were held on topics such as the conservation of biodiversity in Eurasia, sustainable use of flora and fauna, ecosystem restoration, protection of rare and endangered species, and the application of modern methods of ecological monitoring and assessment.
The Organizing Committee decided that the next — 4th International Scientific Conference — will be held in October 2026 at Baku State University.
