The final stage of the English-language essay competition dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Faculty of Biology.
First-year students of the faculty participated in the competition. The purpose of the competition was to develop students' language skills, stimulate their creativity and analytical thinking abilities, and promote a deeper study of the rich legacy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty, Afat Mammadova, who greeted the guests, paid tribute to the dear memory of Heydar Aliyev, and emphasized the importance of conveying his rich legacy to future generations. Afterwards, the chair and members of the jury were introduced.
The Chair of the Jury was the Vice-Rector for International Relations Shahin Panahov, and the members included Vice-Rector for Educational Organization and Teaching Technologies Farda Imanov, Advisor to the Rector on Science and Education Aydin Kazimzade, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Aydan Khandan, Head of the Department of English Language for Natural Sciences Abbas Abbasov, Head of the Department of English Language for Humanities Baylar Hajiyev, and Professor of the Department of English Language Afgan Abdullayev.
Following this, Irada Jafarova, a lecturer from the Department of English Language, gave a detailed speech about the competition rules and the preparation phase.
In their essays, prepared in the form of presentations, students expressed their thoughts on Heydar Aliyev’s role in strengthening Azerbaijani statehood, his leadership qualities, his views on nature, family values, and the values he passed on to future generations.
As a result of the jury’s evaluation, the winners of the top three places were determined:
1st place — Ayan Huseynzada ("Heydar Aliyev — across the globe")
2nd place — Narmin Guliyeva ("National leader and development of healthcare")
3rd place — Nazrin Alizade ("Heydar Aliyev — youth pass to leadership")
The winners were awarded special certificates and gifts.
In conclusion, the event ended with musical performances by the doctoral students and students of the faculty.
