The Dean of the Faculty of Biology has presented Azerbaijan’s food safety sector on an international scientific platform

The Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Professor Afat Mammadova, delivered a presentation at the 5th International Congress on Agricultural and Food Ethics, held on October 23–24, 2025, at Akdeniz University in Turkey.
The congress brought together scientists, experts, and specialists from around the world to discuss current issues related to food ethics, safety, and the development of sustainable food systems.
In her presentation titled “Food Safety and Ethical Approaches in Azerbaijan’s Food System: Realities and Perspectives,” Professor Afat Mammadova provided detailed information on the legal and regulatory framework for food safety in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the activities of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, the modernization of the certification system, as well as the implementation of HACCP and ISO standards.
She also highlighted Azerbaijan’s achievements in the field of food safety, while drawing attention to the future priorities, including the improvement of regional laboratory infrastructure, the enhancement of technical capacities of small and medium-sized producers, and the promotion of public awareness.
The presentation was met with great interest by international participants and made a significant contribution to the integration of Azerbaijan’s experience in food safety into global scientific discussions.
