Teacher of the Faculty of Biology, Mohubbat Najafli, has passed away

Mohubbat Humbat oğlu Najafli, a lecturer at the Department of Genetics of the Faculty of Biology and a Candidate of Biological Sciences, has passed away.
Möhübbət Nəcəfli was born on November 22, 1962, in the village of Ashaghi Seyidahmadli of the Fuzuli district. He received his secondary education at the village school between 1969 and 1979. From 1979 to 1981, he worked at the Engels-named viticulture sovkhoz in Fuzuli district, and from 1981 to 1983, he completed his military service.
In 1984–1989, he studied at the Faculty of Biology of Baku State University. Between 1989 and 1993, he worked at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the “Biotech” Scientific Research Association of ANAS. Since 1993, he held various academic and teaching positions at Baku State University.
From 1993 to 2016, he worked as a junior researcher and researcher at the Biotechnology Scientific Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Biology. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as a lecturer at the Department of Plant Physiology, and since 2020, he had been working as a full-time lecturer at the Department of Genetics. Since 2007, he also taught biology at the “Young Talents” Lyceum affiliated with Baku State University.
Between 1992 and 1996, he was a part-time postgraduate student at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS. On June 29, 2006, he defended his кандидатская dissertation titled “Damage to Dunaliella salina IPAsD 294 cells by UV radiation under intensive cultivation conditions and their physiological resistance”, and in 2007 he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences.
His main research areas included biophysics and radiobiology.
In 2019, he was awarded the юбилей medal “100th Anniversary of Baku State University (1919–2019)”, and in 2021, he received the commemorative badge “ATIAHI 100 years” from the Azerbaijan Trade Union of Education Workers.
The administration and staff of Baku State University express their deep sorrow over the passing of Möhübbət Nəcəfli and extend their condolences to his family and loved ones.
