Students of the “Young Talents” Lyceum have become acquainted with the research environment of the Faculty of Biology
Students of grades VII–VIII of the “Young Talents” Lyceum operating under Baku State University (BSU) have begun visiting the research laboratories of the University’s Faculty of Biology to become closely acquainted with its scientific research environment. The aim of the initiative is to familiarize students with the academic environment from an early age, strengthen their interest in science, and contribute to the development of research-oriented thinking.
It is well known that early exposure to a scientific environment significantly increases students’ interest in science, enhances their analytical thinking and research skills, and helps them make more informed choices regarding their future fields of study. In this regard, the organized sessions create opportunities for students to connect their theoretical knowledge with real scientific practice.
During the sessions, students were introduced to BSU’s research infrastructure, the main research directions pursued at the Faculty of Biology, and the activities of its laboratories. Lessons and practical classes conducted in the Faculty’s modern, well-equipped laboratories enable students to reinforce the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in physics, chemistry, and biology through hands-on experience.
Such scientific and educational initiatives contribute to broadening students’ horizons, deepening their knowledge, increasing their interest in scientific research, and shaping them as future science-oriented professionals. At the same time, these initiatives are important in strengthening cooperation between secondary education institutions and higher education establishments.
