Students of the Faculty of Biology went on an excursion to Absheron National Park

Students of the Faculty of Biology visited Absheron National Park as part of an excursion dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event began with the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Afterwards, Abulfaz Tagiyev, Head of the Department of Zoology and Physiology of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University, delivered a speech in which he shared his memories of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and spoke about his historic contributions to strengthening Azerbaijani statehood and the comprehensive development of the country.
In his speech, Etibar Ibrahimov, Director of Absheron National Park, spoke about Heydar Aliyev’s efforts toward the establishment and development of the Azerbaijani state, as well as the importance of policies implemented in the areas of preservation of national resources, environmental management, environmental protection, and biodiversity conservation. He also emphasized that the creation and development of national parks make a significant contribution to maintaining ecological balance in the country.
During the excursion, students conducted observations within the territory of Absheron National Park. They were provided with information about the park’s faunal diversity, including reptiles, mammals, and birds. Discussions were also held on the impact of changes in the water level of the Caspian Sea on the fauna of the area.
As part of the event, a cycling tour involving the students was also organized. At the end of the program, three students who distinguished themselves in the competition were announced as winners and were presented with gifts.
