Students of the Faculty of Biology participated in a trip to Karabakh dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The trip was organized under the supervision of Sevinj Mammadova, a lecturer at the Department of Zoology and Physiology of the Faculty of Biology.

The purpose of the trip was to familiarize students with the reconstruction and restoration work being carried out in the liberated territories, as well as to help the younger generation gain a deeper understanding of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s legacy of statehood and his far-sighted policy regarding Karabakh.

The students’ journey began in the city of Aghdam. They visited the Aghdam Juma Mosque and received information about its history, the destruction it suffered during the occupation period, and the current restoration process. One of the most remarkable moments for the students was a stone fragment displayed inside the mosque. The stone, which had been presented to National Leader Heydar Aliyev during the occupation period in May 2000, was later returned to the restored Aghdam Juma Mosque years afterward. The students regarded this as a symbol of historical memory and national determination.

As part of the trip, the students also visited the city of Khankendi. There, they became acquainted with the new socio-political realities formed after the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and learned about the city’s important role in the country’s future development.

The students later traveled to the city of Shusha. Visiting Shusha’s historical and cultural monuments, mosques, and architectural landmarks left a profound spiritual impression on the young participants. The students described the restoration work being carried out in Azerbaijan’s cultural capital as a source of national pride and a restoration of historical justice.

The participants noted that the trip to Karabakh was not only educational but also a living history lesson for them. The pain of the past felt in Aghdam, the grandeur of Victory experienced in Shusha, and the sense of confidence in Azerbaijan’s future observed in Khankendi all contributed to strengthening the students’ patriotism and sense of statehood.

This trip, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, played an important role in helping young people gain a deeper understanding of independent Azerbaijan, liberated Karabakh, and the restoration of historical justice.
