International Research Collaborations of Baku State University’s Faculty of Biology

Researchers of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University are enriching their scientific knowledge and practical skills by conducting parts of their dissertation research at foreign universities.
Within the framework of the Türkiye Scholarships Program, one of the faculty’s researchers carried out a study on “New Approaches to the Effective Treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia” at the Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) in Izmir, Türkiye. Conducted at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, the research involved the use of modern laboratory equipment and significantly enhanced both theoretical and practical expertise.
At the same time, Natavan Bakhshaliyeva, a lecturer at the Department of Genetics, conducted scientific research at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics of Karadeniz Technical University (KTU). In collaboration with Associate Professor Murat Erdem Güzel, the project focused on studying the genetic polymorphism and phylogenetic relationships of species belonging to the genus Diospyros L. (Ebenaceae), widespread in Azerbaijan, using ISSR, ScOT, and ITS markers. The study is expected to make a significant contribution to identifying the genetic diversity and evolutionary relationships of *Diospyros* species in Azerbaijan’s flora.
Such international collaborations provide young scientists and researchers of the faculty with broad opportunities to master modern scientific methodologies, benefit from advanced laboratory facilities, and establish valuable academic connections.
