Articles by scientists of the Faculty of Biology have been published in a high-impact-factor journal issued by Springer

An article titled “Biogenic Magnetic Nanoparticles and Hepatic Structural Alterations: Insights into Radiation Stress Responses in Polymer-Like Biological Systems” authored by Professor Rovshan Khalilov and Associate Professor Aygun Nasibova of Baku State University has been published in the international journal Polymer Bulletin, which is indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus scientometric databases. The journal has an impact factor of 4.
The article investigates laboratory rats exposed to various doses of radiation using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). For the first time, it was demonstrated that under the influence of stress factors, a biomineralization process occurs in the liver tissues of laboratory rats, resulting in the generation of crystalline iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles. The type and size of these nanoparticles were determined using the TEM method.
