Bakı Dövlət Universiteti Faculty of Biology

On September 17, 2025, an alumni meeting was held at the Faculty of Biology of Baku State University. The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the Faculty, Afət Məmmədova, who spoke about the achievements of the faculty’s graduates. She emphasized that it is a matter of pride for the faculty that its alumni continue their education and engage in scientific research both at prestigious universities within the country and abroad. She also informed the newly admitted first-year students, who have just joined the Biology family, about the opportunities and conditions that may be available to them in the future and how to benefit from them.

During the event, a 2019–2023 graduate of the Faculty of Biology, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Medical Genetics at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in Turkey, Shovkat Aliverdibayli, shared her experience with the students. She highlighted the importance of perseverance, research skills, and the proper use of international opportunities in achieving one’s goals.

She spoke about her scientific work in the field of the genetic basis of neurodegenerative diseases and pharmacogenetics, her dissertation topic, as well as the international scholarships she has been awarded. Shovkat Aliverdibayli advised the students to continuously develop their knowledge, actively participate in scientific activities, and believe in the goals they set for themselves.

The meeting continued in an interactive format, during which students’ questions were answered, and it concluded in a warm and sincere atmosphere.
