A student of the Faculty of Biology has been admitted to a fully funded Master's program in South Korea
Shahla Elnur gizi Hamidova, a 2024 graduate of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University and one of the first graduates of the Biotechnology program, has been admitted to a Master’s program at Korea University — one of South Korea’s most prestigious higher education institutions. She will continue her studies in the field of “Public Health (Community Health and Social Epidemiology).”
Shahla Hamidova is a recipient of the “Global Korea Scholarship” (GKS), a highly competitive international full scholarship program offered by the Republic of Korea. The selection process for the GKS program included several stages, and out of more than a hundred applicants, only five candidates were selected in the final round. Shahla Hamidova is among those five.
Under the GKS program, all expenses are fully covered, including tuition fees for four semesters, a monthly stipend of approximately 1,260 AZN, health insurance, travel expenses, and visa support.
Korea University is ranked 61st globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026. It is also considered one of South Korea’s most renowned universities and a member of the country’s elite “SKY” university consortium.
Shahla Hamidova completed her undergraduate studies with a GPA of 92.32. She is proficient in both English and Korean at the C1 level and holds IELTS 7.0 and TOPIK Level 5 certificates. In addition, she has been engaged in scientific research, with her article titled “Managing the Evolution of Healthcare: Integrating Genetic Engineering into Modern Medicine” published in the German International Journal of Modern Science.
As one of the first graduates in the field of Biotechnology at BSU, Shahla Hamidova represents the new generation of professionals trained in this emerging specialization. Her achievement is both a personal success and a reflection of the progress of the faculty and the university as a whole.
