A scientific seminar on the topic “New Generation Drug Therapies” was held

A scientific seminar on the topic “New Generation Drug Therapies” was held, organized by the Student Scientific Society of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University. The seminar was delivered by Abdul Etibaroglu, a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Boğaziçi University.
During the event, modern scientific trends were discussed, including next-generation biotechnological approaches, targeted drug delivery, gene therapy, immunotherapy, and nanodrug platforms. The presentation emphasized the importance of personalized medicine within the global healthcare system and highlighted expectations that future drug development will increasingly shift from traditional chemical compounds toward biologically based models.
In his presentation, Abdul Etibaroglu provided extensive information on novel drug technologies that interfere with intracellular signaling pathways, CRISPR-based therapeutic approaches, and the development of smart nano-carriers capable of targeting tumor cells with high precision. The speaker noted that these methods are expected to bring revolutionary changes in the treatment of cancer, hereditary diseases, and autoimmune disorders in the coming years.
The seminar was beneficial for students in both theoretical and practical terms. Participants raised questions regarding current directions in biomedical research, new technologies used in scientific laboratories, and career opportunities in this field.
