A scientific seminar on “The Effects of Plant-Derived Nanoparticles on Living Systems” was held

A scientific seminar entitled “Biochemical Characteristics of the Effects of Plant-Derived Nanoparticles on Living Systems” was held at the Faculty of Biology and presented by Associate Professor Sabina Omarova of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry.
During the seminar, detailed information was provided on the green synthesis of plant-derived nanoparticles, the characterization of their physicochemical properties using modern analytical methods, and the mechanisms underlying their effects on various living systems.
The presentation included a comprehensive analysis of the influence of nanoparticles on the enzymatic components of the antioxidant defense system against oxidative stress in model organisms such as unicellular algae, wheat seedlings, and fish.
Sabina Omarova presented comparative findings on the effects of silver nanoparticles synthesized using extracts of common thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.), a plant widely distributed in the flora of Azerbaijan, on the antioxidant defense mechanisms of different living systems. The speaker also emphasized the ecotoxicological significance of the research findings.
The seminar attracted considerable interest from the participants. At the end of the presentation, questions from the audience were answered, and extensive scientific discussions were held regarding the future prospects of the research and the potential applications of the obtained results.
