A scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva was held under the organization of Baku State University

A Republican Scientific-Practical Conference on the topic “Protection of Women’s Health: Multidisciplinary Approaches”, dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the distinguished ophthalmologist-scientist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, was held with Baku Medical Plaza as the host venue.
The event was organized by Baku State University and the Association for the Support of Women’s Health, in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, TABIB, and Baku Medical Plaza.
Opening the conference with introductory remarks, Professor Afat Mammadova, Dean of the Faculty of Biology at Baku State University, spoke about Academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s exceptional contributions to the development of medical science in Azerbaijan, her outstanding moral qualities, the rich scientific legacy she established in the field of ophthalmology, and the significance of the scientific-practical conference. The professor noted that Academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s scientific work and her life devoted to serving humanity continue to serve as an important example for society today.
During the official part of the event, speeches were delivered by Gunay Ahmadova, Co-Chair of the Association for the Support of Women’s Health and PhD in Medical Sciences; Ilkana Karantarli, Deputy Chief Physician of Baku Medical Plaza; and Professor Rovshan Khalilov, Head of the Department of Biophysics and Biochemistry at Baku State University. The speakers emphasized the importance of applying modern approaches to women’s health protection, strengthening preventive measures, and fostering collaborative work among physicians from various specialties.
The speakers also stated that the memory of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva is always honored with great respect and that her scientific heritage and professional values continue to serve as an important roadmap for today’s medical professionals.
Following the official session, a video presentation reflecting the life, work, and scientific achievements of the distinguished scholar was shown.
The conference continued with panel discussions. During the panel sessions, well-known doctors and specialists delivered presentations on topics such as the protection of women’s health, early diagnosis, reproductive health, modern treatment protocols, pregnancy monitoring, prevention of gynecological diseases, and multidisciplinary medical approaches. The presentations included extensive discussions on current challenges in women’s health, new diagnostic opportunities, patient-centered healthcare models, and the role of integrating various medical specialties into clinical practice.
The specialists noted that women’s health can be protected more effectively not within the framework of a single specialty alone, but through the joint efforts of gynecology, endocrinology, oncology, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, psychology, biology, and other fields. The speakers also emphasized that increasing public awareness, conducting regular medical examinations, and ensuring early обращения play an important role in protecting women’s health.
The conference was accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and participants were awarded 6 CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits.
The event was remembered as an important platform for promoting the rich scientific heritage of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, discussing modern biomedical approaches in the field of women’s health, and strengthening scientific-practical cooperation among specialists.
